Privacy Policy

LitBud is built to help you keep track of books, vocabulary, characters, contextual explanations, and crosswords. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.

Information You Provide in the App

LitBud can store books, authors, chapters, vocabulary words, definitions, character notes, word encounters, and generated crossword data that you add or create while using the app. This library data is stored locally on your device by default.

AI Features

When you use AI-powered features, LitBud sends the relevant request details to the LitBud backend so the feature can work. Depending on the feature, this can include a word, book title, author, chapter, surrounding context, vocabulary terms, and definitions.

LitBud also uses a randomly generated app client identifier to track AI usage limits and Pro status. This identifier is stored on your device and is not intended to directly identify you.

Purchases and Subscriptions

LitBud Pro subscriptions are handled through Apple StoreKit. Apple processes purchases and billing information. LitBud may send transaction identifiers to the LitBud backend to verify Pro access.

iCloud Backup

If you use LitBud Pro iCloud backup, your LitBud library backup is saved to your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. iCloud backup is optional and requires your Apple iCloud account.

Import and Export

LitBud lets you export and import app data as backup files. You control where exported files are saved and which files are imported back into the app.

Support Emails

If you contact support, your email address and the information you include in the message will be used to respond to your request. Support emails may include app version, build number, and iOS version if sent from the app support screen.

Third-Party Services

LitBud relies on Apple services for purchases and optional iCloud backup. LitBud also uses a backend service for AI features, usage limits, and Pro verification.

Children's Privacy

LitBud is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through LitBud support or app features, contact support so it can be reviewed.

Data Requests

You can request help with privacy questions or data deletion by emailing lovelitbud@gmail.com. Some data, such as information stored locally on your device or in your private iCloud account, can be managed directly by deleting app data, removing iCloud backups, or deleting the app.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as LitBud changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
